How to Join a Virtual Appointment with Homeward

Prior to your appointment

Thanks for scheduling a virtual appointment with Homeward. It’s a convenient way to get care without leaving your home. These visits involve using video to see the Homeward clinician. You’ll need a smartphone, computer, iPad, or tablet with a camera. Similar to what you use for a video chat with family or friends.

To save time and make sure everything is working properly, you can test the device you’re going to use ahead of time! Go to the following link and then follow the prompts:

Day of your appointment

Here’s what will happen:

15 minutes prior to your appointment time, you’ll receive a link at your email or mobile phone number. Keep it handy, you’ll use it later.

At the time of your appointment, the Homeward clinical team will call you on the phone. They will ask a few questions to prepare and make sure you received the link to the begin the virtual appointment portion.

You’ll hang up the phone call with the Homeward clinician and then start with “virtual visit” using the link sent to you. See details below about ensuring you get connected.

You’ll talk further on video with the Homeward clinician.

Getting connected to the virtual appointment:

Step 1: Use a smartphone, computer, iPad, or tablet with a camera.

Make sure it has a strong internet or data connection.

Step 2: Find your virtual visit link in your email or text messages.

You will get the link through the email or mobile phone number 15 minutes before your visit. If you don’t see the link, check your spam folder.

Still can’t find the link? Call Homeward at (844) 578-4535.

Step 3: Click on the link.

The link will take you to a browser on your device. You should see a screen like this.

⚠️ If you don’t see this screen or get an error message, you may need to use a different browser.

Step 4: Fill in the check-in information.

Type your full name, select “Yes, I am the patient”, and check the box acknowledging that you agree to the Terms of Use and Informed Patient Consent.

Then, click “Next”.

Step 5: Allow the browser to use your microphone and camera.

If you see a pop-up like these images, select “Allow”. This lets your Care Team see and hear you during the virtual visit.

Step 6: Stay in the Waiting Room until your Care Team joins.

If you see this screen, then you’re all set! Stay on this screen and the Care Team will appear shortly to start your visit.

If the system detects any technical issues, it may give you additional prompts. If you cannot resolve those issues, call Homeward at (844) 578-4535.
